Marian Shrines of Wisconsin
The Midwest and in particular Wisconsin is blessed to be home to 3 Marian Shrines and a Vatican approved site of Apparition. Mary has brought millions closer to her Son and these Shrines continue to lead more to Jesus through Mary. There is only 4 hours between the furthest shrines!

The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion
Champion, Wisconsin
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion is the first and only approved Marian Apparition site in the United States. It preserves the peace-filled grounds where Mary, the Mother of Jesus, appeared three times to Adele Brise in 1859, identifying herself as the “Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners.”
Located just north of Green Bay in Champion, Wisconsin, this humble yet powerful sanctuary serves as a refuge for all who seek spiritual and physical healing through the Sacraments and prayer. The National Shrine is open year-long for pilgrims to experience a deeper encounter with Jesus through the intercession of His Blessed Mother, Mary.

Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world visit the Basilica and National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Holy Hill each year. Situated on 435 beautiful acres outside of Milwaukee, Holy Hill was declared a Shrine with “Portiuncula Privilege” by Pope Leo XIII in 1903.
As a result of the increasing number of pilgrims, the Discalced Carmelite Friars from Bavaria were invited to staff the Shrine in 1906. On November 19, 2006, the Shrine was elevated to the status of Basilica.

Making a Pilgrimage
A pilgrimage is a dedicated journey to a sacred place or shrine. Pilgrimages can be large or small, near or far. It is the disposition of prayer that sets a pilgrimage apart from any other journey.
What is a pilgrim passport?
The Passport can be completed by receiving stamps from the three Shrine locations. We encourage pilgrimage groups to add the passport as a way to remember and take in their experience. The passports can be acquired for free from the participating Shrine locations.
